ODD SIZE MATTRESSES

There are a number of factors to consider when designing and choosing your odd size mattress. A very important factor is the amount of usage the mattress will receive - every night sleep versus occasional use (such as a guest room) versus use only as a decorative showpiece dictates a choice of somewhat different materials to be used. Another consideration is the size and weight of the individual who will be sleeping on the odd size mattress. As an example, a mattress will wear at a much different rate under the size and weight of an NFL defensive lineman, a seven-foot NBA center, a petite teenage gymnast or an ederly grandmother. Very different components could be used in each of these situations to achieve a suitable level for your custom comfort mattress.

To build your odd size mattress there are several measurements and pieces of information we require. We need the exact opening of the bed as measured from the inside rail to inside rail where the foundation sits. This will give us the width. Then measure from headboard to footboard on the plane where the foundation rests. This will provide us with length. Are there any height restrictions? The height should be measured from the point where the foundation rests on the side rails vertical to the highest point of the footboard. This will determine how thick the mattress set should be overall. If you are looking directly down into the bedstead, are there any obstructions which would interfere with the placement of the bedding? An example of this would be a poster bed where the posts potrude into the area where the box spring foundation rests. This can be accommodated by creating a notched corner. With these dimensions we can design an odd size mattress to match any need.
